It’s never too early to start planning for your dorm! Don’t wait until the last minute like we did… I’ve had this list since my first daughter went to college. Since then, I have edited it quite a bit. I learned with Addison that we way over bought and didn’t need many things that we had bought. The list below are the must haves for your dorm. This list includes things you need for a dorm with a living room, so ignore that part is you have a regular dorm room! I have added links to everything, things like bedding and art you will choose your taste! I’ll do a more in depth post on where we bought all our bedding and art work! It is very true when people say after Christmas, senior year flys by! Get to buying!!
For your bedroom:
over the door locking jewelry organizer
3 drawer plastic storage drawers for under bed
storage stool to get onto bed, option one:
2 spring curtain rods for your bedskirt
laundry basket, one with handle is best
towel wraps or robes
Like most dorms, closet space is limited. I found a few tricks to add more clothes hanging space. First are space saver hangers, they are thinner than most so you can hang more clothes. We also used Wonder Hangers. But the best trick we tried was hanging a rod under the lifted bed towards the back wall. We just used a wooden rod we had and hung it with rope, but a metal rod would work as well. Just think you just added 75 inches of hanging space, that is probably more than what you have at home!
